A Great Intro to The Benefits of Essential Oils
Debra Jodoin and Suzanne Lynch of Essential Oils Therapies joined together at the latest Herbal Community of Central Massachusetts meeting to talk on the benefits of essential oils, and show the group how to make facial cream and lip balm using essential oils. I signed right up, excited to learn more about the benefits of essential oils in self-care products!
My husband gave me a Young Living Essential Oil Kit for Christmas, but I had not cracked it open. Sometimes I need a little push to get started. This class was the perfect opportunity to take it up a notch and leverage the benefits of essential oils. I started using essential oils in homemade organic food based self-care products, this makes the kit work for me.
Why Make Your Own Face Cream?
All the time you read about too much chemical exposure. It is more than a little scary. Each morning an average woman is exposed to over 70 chemicals as she gets ready for her day. Shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, toothpaste, face care products, hair products are all applied to and get in our body through the skin. They all have to be processed into waste and escorted back out of our body. This burden falls squarely on the lymph system and the liver.
We all need to do what we can to support the lightening of our bodies’ detox load. The idea of natural-based skin care using essential oils is very appealing to me. This is a great way to have less toxins get into my body and I have more benefits from this type of facial cream. https://daretoselfcare.com/5-changes-kick-toxins-to-the-curb/ /https://yogahealthcoaching.com/cut-the-chemicals-from-your-personal-care/ When I use an essential oil based face cream, not only do I get the health benefits of the oil, I also get the lovely clean scent.
Choose A Clean Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil
Deb spoke specifically on the need to buy high quality pure organic essential oils. There are many sources of oil with varying degrees of purity and quality. Therapeutic grade oils are the highest quality and that is what Young Living delivers. From planting each seed to distilling the plants, care is taken to keep things clean and organic.
Take Good Care Of Our Skin
Our skin is our largest organ and well worth taking care of. If we apply lotions that contain chemical preservatives our body and liver has to deal with them.
If you are going to the effort of making your own face cream to get away from preservatives and additives, you really want to use clean organic ingredients. Make the formula what you need to feed and nourish your skin. Deb gave us a starter formula for night time facial cream.
